TFSA Contribution Room Calculator

Work out your TFSA room — for first-timers, newcomers and existing holders. Updated for the 2026 limit.

What is a TFSA?

A Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) is a registered Canadian account that lets you save and invest without paying tax on what you earn inside it. Any interest, dividends or growth is completely tax-free, and withdrawals are tax-free too — you can take money out any time, for any reason.

Each year the government gives you a set amount of contribution room. Unused room carries forward, and amounts you withdraw are added back to your room the following year. This tool estimates how much room you have available to contribute.

Your privacy: nothing you enter is saved, stored, or sent anywhere. All calculations run entirely in your own browser and disappear when you close the page. This tool exists only to estimate your contribution room.

Important: This tool gives an estimate based on the rules and annual limits published by the Canada Revenue Agency. It assumes you have been a continuous tax resident since the year entered. Your official, confirmed contribution room is shown in your CRA My Account (note it may lag for the current year). Verify the rules and your room at the Government of Canada TFSA page. This is not financial or tax advice. We do not save or transmit any of the information you enter — it is used only to calculate your room, in your browser.

Note: this is an illustration only, based on the information you entered. Please confirm your actual contribution room with your accountant and with the CRA before contributing.
